GLLS2008?

I'm going through the evaluation responses, and there are some great ideas here for sessions at GLLS2008. Of course, the hard part is identifying speakers for the topics, but for those who didn't get to attend the TechSource Gaming, Learning, and Libraries Symposium this year (or if you haven't filled out the survey), what topics would you like to see covered at next year's event?

Thanks, Bonnie - great minds think alike! I had debated what to do Monday night at the Symposium and had considered something like the Access/Code4Lib hackfest, so perhaps we can do it next year. I love the idea of big games, though, and I'm already proposing something "big" internally. I had wanted to play cruel 2 b kind at Annual but just didn't have time to try to pull it together with enough advance notice. Perhaps we can get a "big" group to work on a "big" game for GLLS2008 (and Annual 2008).

How about adding the topic of Mobile Gaming in to the 2008 discussion? I believe that’s where the gaming future is going..
I too love the idea of having Big Games and that would be definitely be a good thing to add on...something like scavenger hunt!

I totally agree, Adity - great idea! I've been trying to follow the m-learning movement in the U.K., and I am hoping to see more happen with mobile educational gaming. I will definitely add this to the topics list for 2008.

In light of Grand Theft Auto, Manhunt, and the Metal Gear Solid series, I'd like to see a session on video games as social commentary. The English major in me wants to see a session discussing how video games are driven by concepts of the quest and the hero, particularly games such as God of War and Legend of Zelda.

As for gaming in libraries, a round table discussion on how to properly plan and execute a tournament and various other gaming events would be pretty cool. An open panel discussing on what this year's participants have done with games since would be nice.

Oh, and more open gaming!

Hope you don't mind me asking, "What's the latest with GLLS2008?" I'm about to start my summer programming and know I won't keep up with my blogs, feeds, wikis, twitters, etc., during the summer, but don't want to be, well, it'll happen anyway, but "out of the loop" as much as I can, so thought I'd ask now.

Hey Kymberley,
The latest info on GLLS2008 is over here at http://gaming.techsource.ala.org/index.php/Main_Page - registration opened up yesterday! It's November 2-4, 2008, so you'll have some down time after the summer chaos. Hope to see you there!

Merry
